WonderCon: The Geeks of San Francisco

This past April Fool's Day, I pulled off the ultimate prank of tricking people into thinking I was a nerd by attending my first-ever WonderCon during a weekend in San Francisco. WonderCon is sorta like a Comic-Con lite, but this year's convention went big with some appearances by stars like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively (Green Lantern) and Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan (Hanna).

Anyway, the joke was on the WonderConventioneers when they realized I pulled the April Fool's wool over their eyes and turned out to be a totally supercool dude merely pretending to be geek. Suckers! It was cosplay, whatever that means! You should've seen the looks on their Batfaces!!! It was like Issue 104 of the DC Comics classic Silver Age... I mean, wait, what?

OMFG, Gossip Girl, WTF?

I absolutely love that The CW's current ad campaign for Gossip Girl is reveling in how morally questionable the series might be. But really, morals are like the American Gladiators -- they're meant to be challenged, slathered in baby oil and pummeled with giant Q-tips.

Just in case The CW needs some more pull quotes to promote Gossip Girl, I've created some additional ads for them:

The Sidebarrio

I grew up in the sidebarrio, man. It's no place for a kid. Sometimes you'd see a family of ten in a tiny column no wider than 35 characters. It's brutal, just brutal. Ain't nobody lookin too hard at no sidebar, yo. Yeah, we got away with things--but things got away with us, too, you know what I'm sayin'? It's a struggle to survive way down in the Sidebarrio. And I ain't talking no top of the sidebar section, where the fancy folks pretend to be slumming in their loft-style converted spaces. This is the for real Sidebarrio, practically the gutter, you dig?
